Puzzles are among the age old forms of childhood entertainment and toys that combine the development of intellectual higher level thinking skills, visual spatial skills, color recognition and sorting skills, patterning, hand eye coordination, and more!

As a child learns to separate out the puzzle pieces into the various color segments of the picture, they are learning the basic skills of color recognition and visual patterning.  When a child discovers that a puzzle goes together more easily if the frame is first built around the outer edge, they are developing logic and basic geometric reasoning skills.  As a child places pieces together in correct locations, spatial recognition skills and hand eye coordination skills necessary to adjust the pieces into the allotted spaces, are being developed.
