After nearly two
decades as both a classroom teacher and a special education teacher, I am
excited to share some of my most effective and FUN teaching resources with my
many friends out there including teachers, parents, and homeschool
parents-teachers.
These wooden building blocks are wonderful toys for young preschoolers to develop fine motor skills. They are great for building towers and creative structures utilizing a kind of play which fosters the development of visual discrimination, motor planning, manipulative, sorting and categorizing skills. Children begin to learn about balance and gravity, shapes and how to manipulate physical objects with logical thought and purpose. All of these skills play a key role in the development of early reading skills as well as math reasoning and problem solving skills.
